Walk For The Cure is a fun new game built in PHP for faceboook platform. This has been developed for Online Atheletes, a company that pioneered facebook social gaming in US. This is an extremely viral application, growing at more than 1000 new users per day on Facebook. This allows users to take virtual walks to raise money for Cancer research.
The application allowed users to create a virtual team of walkers out of their friends and walk scenic locations around the world. Users would invite their friends to increase their team size and unlock levels and purchase the necessary equipment while tallying a number of miles walked and watching a tracker of money raised for cancer research that updated daily. Walk For the Cure grew to 125,000 users and raised $20,000 for the Campaign For Cancer Prevention. Walk For The Cure is using sponsorship revenue from advertisers to make donations to The O Campaign for Cancer Prevention.
